Hike To Pillars Of Hercules
Discover Antigua's tropical beauty on a scenic hiking experience with views of English Harbour and the surrounding coastline. This guided excursion offers an immersive way to explore the island's natural landscape.
Your approximately 3.5-hour experience, including transportation and hiking time, is led by a knowledgeable local guide. Along the way, you'll follow coastal trails, navigate uneven and rocky terrain, and step over large boulders as you take in views of the Pillars of Hercules. Depending on sea conditions and tides, access to the Pillars may vary, and you may encounter shallow water or wet footing. Bottled water is provided, along with a small pouch for your belongings.
Your journey begins at Heritage Quay Pier, where you'll meet your guide before setting out on an approximate 30-minute scenic drive to the starting point. Once on the trail, enjoy views of English Harbour and its dramatic coastline. The Pillars of Hercules, a naturally formed limestone rock shaped by the elements, serve as a highlight of the experience when conditions allow.
Continue along the coastline near the Pillars of Hercules, where you'll make your way across large boulders while taking in views of the waves along the shoreline. From this vantage point, you may be able to see the historic 18th-century Fort Berkeley, once home to over 29 cannons, as it overlooks the Caribbean Sea. Take in passing yachts and distant island views, including Montserrat on clear days, before making your return to the port.
This experience is best suited for guests comfortable walking on uneven terrain, including rocky paths and boulders. It offers a rewarding combination of coastal scenery and light adventure for those looking to experience Antigua's natural beauty.
